WeRide Recognized Among China's Top 10 AI Case Studies

WeRide has been recognized as one of the Top 10 AI case studies in China for its autonomous driving deployment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), making it the only autonomous driving company to receive this honor. This recognition was announced during the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, where the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) released a collection titled AI From China Benefits the World (2026).

The selection highlights WeRide's significant role in showing how Chinese AI technologies can be effectively deployed and regulated in international markets. WeRide's operations in the UAE serve as a benchmark for autonomous mobility, demonstrating the successful integration of autonomous driving into urban transportation systems.

Since launching public Robotaxi services in Abu Dhabi in 2021, WeRide has expanded its operations to Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, covering approximately 70% of Abu Dhabi's urban areas. The company’s services are accessible through the Uber platform, marking it as the only firm outside the United States to offer fully driverless Robotaxi services via Uber.

WeRide has achieved several milestones in the UAE, including being the first company to obtain a national license for self-driving vehicles, allowing for autonomous vehicle testing and operation on public roads. In December 2024, WeRide and Uber launched the largest commercial Robotaxi service outside the U.S. and China in Abu Dhabi, further solidifying WeRide's position in the region.

This recognition aligns with the UAE's goal to increase the share of autonomous mobility in its transportation system. With Dubai aiming for 25% of all transportation journeys to be autonomous by 2030, WeRide's services provide practical support towards achieving this objective.

WeRide has also expanded its reach internationally, launching public Robotaxi services in cities like Riyadh and Singapore, and plans to enter additional markets including Madrid and Zurich. The company currently operates a global Level 4 autonomous driving fleet of over 3,000 vehicles across more than 40 cities in 12 countries.
