Rocket Lab Completes Rapid Launch for U.S. Space Force

Rocket Lab Corporation announced the successful completion of its role in the U.S. Space Force's VICTUS HAZE mission, marking a significant milestone in responsive space operations. The VICTUS HAZE mission was initiated when Rocket Lab received a Notice To Launch from the Space Force. Remarkably, the company launched the mission just 16 hours and 42 minutes later, achieving the fastest response time ever recorded for a Tactically Responsive Space (TacRS) mission. This rapid launch sets a new benchmark for future operations in the field.

Following the launch on June 19, Rocket Lab's team successfully commissioned the Pioneer spacecraft within 38 hours, significantly ahead of the Space Force's 72-hour deadline. This included activating and verifying all systems of the spacecraft, ensuring it was operational for its tactical mission.

Once in orbit, Rocket Lab completed complex rendezvous and proximity operations in less than 59 hours, which was 25 hours earlier than the 84-hour goal set by the Space Force. The Pioneer spacecraft executed critical maneuvers to monitor and photograph a target satellite, showing the precision navigation and control capabilities necessary for effective space domain awareness.

Historically, missions of this nature have involved multiple contractors for different components, but Rocket Lab has integrated all elements, launch, satellite, and operations, into a single mission for the first time in the TacRS program.
