SoftAtHome Supports Orange's Reconnexion Flash Service
New service keeps French homes online during fiber outages.
SoftAtHome has announced its technology, Always'ON, will support Orange's new Reconnexion Flash service, designed to maintain internet connectivity for households in France during fiber outages. This service automatically reroutes internet access through a customer's smartphone hotspot when a fiber connection fails, ensuring all home devices remain online without requiring additional configuration.
The integration allows for a smooth transition to mobile data without the need for extra hardware or complex setups. Users with the latest Wi-Fi 7 Livebox will benefit from this feature, which is activated remotely by Orange. Once a fiber disruption is detected, the Livebox displays a QR code, guiding users through the quick process of connecting their smartphone to the network.
Previously, customers relied on backup hardware like 4G dongles or mobile routers during outages, which often led to delays in restoring service. With Always'ON, the Livebox connects to the smartphone hotspot automatically, keeping devices such as laptops, tablets, and smart TVs operational through Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
The service enhances user experience by eliminating the need for mobile apps or VPN setups. Once the fiber connection is restored, traffic smoothly transitions back to the fixed line, and services tied to the landline, such as voice calls and multicast TV channels, are reactivated.
Laurence Thouveny, Executive Vice President for Customer Experience at Orange, stated, "With Reconnexion Flash, we are providing our customers with a quick and autonomous solution to maintain their internet connection in the event of an outage." This initiative reflects Orange's commitment to improving network reliability and customer satisfaction.
SoftAtHome, a software provider specializing in broadband, Wi-Fi, and analytics solutions, aims to enhance the digital experience for telecom operators and their customers. Their products are deployed in over 30 million homes, underscoring their significant presence in the broadband market.
This announcement highlights a notable advancement in maintaining internet service continuity, particularly as reliance on stable internet grows in modern households. It also demonstrates a shift towards more user-friendly technology solutions in the telecommunications sector.
