EVgo and Brixmor Partner to Add 500 Fast Charging Stalls

EVgo Inc. and Brixmor Property Group have announced an expansion of their partnership, which will result in the installation of over 500 new fast charging stalls for electric vehicles across more than 90 Brixmor shopping centers in the United States. This move aims to enhance access to EV charging infrastructure in convenient locations where shoppers frequently visit.

As part of the deployment, which is set to begin later this year, new charging stations will be located in states including Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas. The first site for the expanded partnership will be at Barn Plaza in a suburb of Philadelphia.

Scott Levitan, Executive Vice President of Growth at EVgo, stated, "Drivers across the U.S. want infrastructure options that integrate smoothly into their routines." The new charging stations will be strategically placed at grocery store locations, which are visited by the average American household 2-3 times a week, making it easier for drivers to charge their vehicles while shopping.

The new EVgo stations will feature up to 12 high-power chargers at each location, significantly contributing to the growing demand for accessible public charging options. This expansion not only benefits electric vehicle owners but also aims to increase foot traffic at surrounding businesses, potentially boosting customer spending.

Laura McLaughlin, Vice President of Specialty Leasing at Brixmor, remarked on the importance of adapting shopping centers to meet evolving consumer needs. The integration of EV charging infrastructure is seen as a way to enhance the shopping experience while supporting sustainability initiatives.

The partnership between EVgo and Brixmor builds on their previous collaboration, which began in 2016 with the installation of the first charger at a shopping center in Pleasanton, California. With this expanded agreement, EVgo continues to solidify its position as a leader in the public fast charging market.
